Bulten’s unit in Bergkamen Germany has won an environmental award for energy savings. The award is given to innovative companies that are very engaged in sustainable improvements for climate control, energy consumption and environmental protection.
“I am very pleased that we have been awarded the Klimaschutzflagge. It shows that we can find ways of working that are economically viable and at the same time make less impact on the environment and contribute to a more sustainable society,” says Frank Welzel, Production manager, Bergkamen.
Last year the gas heated industrial washing lines in Bergkamen were replaced by a new type that is heated by surplus heat from the plant's own heat treatment. By that, the plant has succeeded in reducing the energy consumption of natural gas by 1.1 million kilowatt hours per year, and 85,000 kilowatt hours per year of electricity. This corresponds to a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 270 tons per year.
The award was presented by local environmental authorities in Bergkamen and Bulten was presented the climate flag that now blows in front of the company’s office in Germany.
