Screws for plastics are designed to form internal threads when screwed into plastic materials with pre-drilled or molded pilot holes. Unlike thread-forming screws, they do not create standard metric threads. Instead, they have a larger pitched thread shape, specifically designed to ensure a strong and secure joint in plastic materials.

Screws designed specifically for use in plastic materials are sometimes referred to as “PT or PF screws”. The term "PT" may also refer to the Plastite® brand.

Thread design

PT/PF screws typically have special threads that are designed to bite into plastic materials without causing excessive stress or cracking. These threads create a strong, secure connection when driven into plastic parts.

Self-tapping

Many PT/PF screws are self-tapping, which means that the screw creates its own threads as it is driven into the material, making it ideal for use in plastic assembly.

PT/PF screws are designed to work with different types of plastics, including softer materials like PVC or harder ones like polycarbonate, helping to prevent damage during installation.

Stripping prevention

These screws are typically designed to prevent stripping of the plastic when they are tightened, ensuring a secure hold over time.

REMFORM®

The REMFORM® screw is a round-bodied thread forming fastener with a unique thread form to provide superior performance in today's wide range of plastics. The asymmetrical thread minimizes radial hoop stress to reduce boss bursting. The narrow tip angle also reduces stress in the plastic nut member.

Delta PT®

The DELTA PT® screw is a special self-tapping fastening element for reliable and easy direct assembly in thermoplastics, even for highly loaded thermoplastics. The field of application covers all industrial applications. Especially in the automotive industry, where the used components have to withstand very high loads.

EVO PT®

The EVO PT® is the evolution of self-tapping fasteners for thermoplastics from the previous Delta PT. This fastening solution successfully integrates manufacturing and application knowledge with new methodologies. The result of this cross-disciplinary approach is a screw with excellent joining properties.
