POWERLOK® – Reusable and reliable

The good locking properties of the TAPTITE® thread, and its protection against loosening and losing clamp load could also be required for use in tapped holes. Therefore, a thread with a trilobular cross section was developed, and a special 30° thread crest which, when assembled, is pushed into the root of the tapped thread to provide a locking effect.

This screw is called POWERLOK®, and it eliminates the need for separate locking elements. It can also be used as a self-tapping screw in light metals with extremely good locking. The first rows of threads are undersized to facilitate insertion.

KLEERLOK® – Cleans away unwanted particles

Another member of the TAPTITE® family is called KLEERLOK®. It was originally developed to solve a problem in the automotive industry. During painting and welding, internal threads can become contaminated with paint and/or weld splatter. As a result, the holes must be protected with some form of masking, such as tape or plugs.

This is time consuming and costly, and weld spatter and dirt can still get caught in the hole threads, causing assembly difficulties and incorrect pretensioning. The KLEERLOK® fastener overcomes these problems and also provides a locking function thanks to its trilobular shape and the special crest of the thread taken from the POWERLOK®.

The thread segment has notches, similar to those on a threading tap, that clean particles and paint residue from the internal thread as the screw is assembled. This eliminates the slow, costly business of masking and reduces In-Place Costs (IPC) and noise levels during assembly. KLEERLOK® fasteners can also be provided with a dog point for easier assembly.
