Meet Mattias Wallden 

Tell us a bit about what it means to be an Innovation Engineer? 

As an Innovation Engineer, my primary focus is advancing new ideas to create new products and solutions for the company. I also do some advanced testing internally and for our customers. Currently, I’m working with green solutions, which I am very excited about. 

How did your journey at Bulten begin? 

I did my master thesis here and after I finished, I was offered to stay. I gladly accepted and got the pleasure of doing follow-up work on my thesis. Since then, I have been working as an Innovation Engineer and have had the pleasure of learning all about our equipment and fasteners. 

How would you describe the company culture at Bulten?

It is great! We have fun activities, and as a company, we work to support each other in moving forward. People are eager to help; therefore, I am always happy to collaborate cross-functionally within the company. 

What do you enjoy most with your work?  

Thinking about new ideas and solutions, I live for the “aha” moment when I find a new idea and the excitement that overtakes me as I rush to search the internet to see if anyone else has thought of it. It makes for a really great moment and day, even if most of the new ideas usually come on my commute home! 

What are some traditions or events that happen at the company? 

We have a monthly breakfast together with everyone who works at the headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, which is a nice chance to see and speak to other people in the company. It really offers a good opportunity for exchange! 

What kind of person is your ideal colleague? 

My ideal colleague is open to new ideas and discussions. It’s a person who wants to teach and learn from everyone around them. I appreciate people who like solving problems when they appear and laugh and make jokes over morning coffee!
