Meet Jean Chen

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? 

My name is Jean, and I’m originally from Malaysia, but I’ve been living and working in Singapore for a few years now. I work at Exim, and in my free time, I enjoy colouring and playing computer games. 

What is your role at Exim?

I work as a Inside Sales Executive, which is similar to an inside sales role. My responsibilities include processing inquiries, providing quotations to customers, and negotiating with suppliers to get competitive prices. I make sure we meet our customers' requirements and expectations. 

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy seeing our quotations translate into purchase orders. It’s rewarding to know that all the work—from receiving inquiries, negotiating with suppliers, to submitting quotes—results in successful deals. It’s a process that takes time and effort, but when everything comes together, it’s satisfying. 

What’s the work culture like at Exim?  

Especially since we became part of Bulten, the culture is very open and transparent. We have a lot of autonomy to make decisions. The company really promotes open communication and continuous learning. They focus on teamwork and employee well-being, which creates a positive and collaborative environment. 

Are there any traditions or events at Exim that you enjoy?  

We have Town Hall meetings where we share our thoughts and ideas. It’s an excellent way to strengthen team bonds and celebrate as a company. I think that’s great!
